When Will Medium Be On Again?

When will Devalos get off the plane? When will Marie begin to speak? When, of when, will Joe get a job? Here are some answers.

Tonight, like many viewers I was forced into watching the State of the Union Address when all I really wanted was to view Allison’s dreams. Instead I watched President Bush’s interpretation of reality. Now that all of that is over with the question remains: When will Medium be on the air again? Long before we get our tax rebate checks. But not until ---

February 18th! That’s right. Practically an entire month, but there is good news, unlike many other programs Medium will have six new episodes on the air when it returns. In the meantime you can always catch repeats on the Lifetime Channel. I realized something about the show while I was watching said repeats.

The Sword of Damocles

The first three seasons of Medium held suspense due to the constant threat of Allison’s relationship with the District Attorney’s office becoming public. Throughout family strife and tribulations, amid the desire to make certain criminals were locked away and victims avenged there was always that suspicion, nay, the fear of Allison Dubois losing her job. And when she did – darn that was explosive. The fear bore fruit, ignited from the tree and was left rotting on the ground until this season. I have to say the writers did a mighty fine job of somehow/somewhat settling the crisis. That was some good television right there. Worth every Levistra commercial. (Ever notice that all the commercials are for mattresses and sleeping pills?)

And Then?

So, what’s the big overarching drama this season? Joe still needs a job and that may be the underlying serial dramatic suspense, but I want a little more. I recently found this post about Medium on one of tv.com’s forums:

dislike the new season, does anyone else agree with me? it's too...unrealistic. like i don't know but i just don't think that it fits into where the past seasons put the show in, if that makes sense.

Well, it makes sense to me. I see where this person is coming from, but I haven’t given up hope on the show. Come February 18th Devalos better get off that plane, once he debarks I think (desperately hope) the exploding fruit will take seed and grow like a Malibu wildfire.
